The 15-track EP, Smells Like Children, was released
in lieu of a "Dope Hat" single. It includes a slow mix of "Dope Hat,"
called "Diary of a Dope Fiend"; "Organ Grinder" and "Cake and Sodomy"
remixes by Dave Ogilvie (producer, Skinny Puppy); an
acoustic re-write of "Cake and Sodomy" by Tony Wiggins; Twiggy
Ramirez's "Scabs, Guns, and Peanut Butter"; covers of The
Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams," Screamin' Jay Hawkins' "I Put a
Spell on You," and Patti Smith's "Rock & Roll Nigger"; and more.
It also features "real snippets of life. Instead of taking samples from
movies, we've taken samples of real life, and kind of dispersed them
throughout the record. Real life can be even better than the movies."
The video for
"Dope Hat" (mac compression) is a take on the movie
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, with a cameo appearance by
Anton LaVey of The Church of
Satan. Call 1-800-DIAL-MTV, or write to MTV, 1515
Broadway, NYC, NY 10036, to request their videos; and don't stop. The
world must spread its legs to the divinity that is AntiChrist
Superstar.
The Spooky Kids are back out on the
road propagating and promulgating to their devoted disciples. Rev. Manson has several surprises in store for
everyone, "involving sex and violence, but not necessarily in that
order," so don't miss them this fall.
